This year of 2015 is likely a great years for Spanish citizens who are visiting Vietnam as they had received two great news. The first one which came into force in July 1, 2015 is that all Spanish citizens get visa exemption for 15 days in Vietnam. And the second one which recently took effect on November 23, 2015 is that all users of Vietnam visa on general and Spanish passport holders using visa on arrival to Vietnam in particular are entitled to a lower stamping fee (the fee to be paid directly in cash to Immigration Officer at arrival airport in Vietnam to get visa stamped). Instead of the previous US $45 for a single entry visa and US $95 for a multiple entry visa valid for up to 3 months, the stamping fee is now only US $25 and US $50 respectively.
Both are move of the Vietnamese government to attract more Spanish tourists to Vietnam.
In which case Spanish citizens should apply for Vietnam visa?
As Spanish citizens are exempted from Vietnam visa for 15 days in Vietnam, those who make sure that their stay in Vietnam is less than 15 days don’t need to apply for visa to Vietnam. However, in some cases where their itinerary has not been fixed or their stay in Vietnam is more than 15 days, application for Vietnam visa is highly recommended as it is difficult and costly to extend a visa exemption in Vietnam now.
How to apply for Vietnam visa for Spanish citizens?
Spanish citizens can obtain Vietnam visa in either of the two following options:
Option 1: Apply for Vietnam visa at Vietnam Embassy (traditional way to get visa for Vietnam)
If this option is selected, Spanish citizens are highly recommended to contact the embassy in advance for details about application form, required documents, visa fee and visa procedure applied by the embassy as they may vary from one to another. And they are also highly recommended to ask whether the embassy accepts application submission via post or in person.
Normally, the visa processing time by the Vietnam embassy is 4 or 5 working days.
