Gearing up to unleash their debut E.P later this year and hit the road, rootsy rock and rollers 'Tympano' precede their first major recording effort with an earthy new single, ‘Wasteland’, which will appear on Lighthouse Records' ‘Indie Legends’ compilation album, due out July 22nd.
Wednesday, June 29, 2016 — A funk rock fuelled trio out of Adelaide, South Australia, ‘Tympano’ are quickly proving their knack for producing high energy rock and roll, born to be hammered out on stage. With a jaw knocking live show and equipped with their debut single ‘Wasteland’, the boys are quickly being snapped up by festivals and radio stations around Adelaide.
Tympano is the baby child of Adelaide locals, Bradley Wanke on drums and backing vocals, Kim Saywell on bass and lead vocals, and Sid Paech on guitar and backing vocals.
The trio draw inspiration from an eclectic variety of influences, “which come together to make our sound different,” commented Bradley. With flavours of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers mixed in with John Butler and Violent Soho, the funk rock band touch on topics like love, lust, and desire. “At the time of writing Wasteland, I was feeling quite taken by someone, but wasn’t quite getting the vibes back,” said Tympano's lead vocalist, Kim Saywell. “I like my lyrics to make sense and for the song to have an overall theme, [though I enjoy] the fact that anyone can take their own meaning from just one line to the entire song." The single ‘Wasteland’ was produced by Hugh Atkinson in Hahndorf, South Australia.
If you would like to catch a show from Tympano, they will be performing at The Worldsend Hotel on July 2nd along with the RAW festival in Adelaide on July 29th.
Tympano’s new single ‘Wasteland’ will also appear amid a host of other unsigned Australian artists on Lighthouse Records' compilation album ‘Indie Legends’, which will be released this July 22nd, with 5000 download cards handed out at Splendour in Byron Bay, Australia. Digital downloads are also available through the Lighthouse Records website.
