In early 2015 creator and entrepreneur David Frieslander decided to test a marketing theory.

David is well known in the Internet Marketing arena having lectured worldwide, written books and articles on the subject and runs his own successful website company that hosts, designs and markets websites.

David Frieslander of Profitable Internet Marketing Limited decided to create his own niche product in order to test what works and what clearly fails in internet marketing.

He started the idea after a client complained that he had a product but found it impossible to get any interest in it.

Davids theory was that if he created a product that did not exist, he could test which marketing channels created the most interest.

You can read about Davids entire journey on his blog here

His marketing included using a crowd funding site, PR, adwords, email marketing, social media and cross promotions. The results he says were staggering "I expected much more traffic to come from press releases and adwords, in fact it came predominately from social media and cross promotions.

This second project allowed The Pen Rest Co. to launch the Pen Rest in Midnight Blue and new colour near to black. Previous colours included silver and gold.

In addition they have a Very Limited Edition Brass Pen Rest that weighs 3 times the weight of the aluminium blocks.

Sales for the Pen Rest have been from all over the world.

The Pen Rest is a modular and uniquely stackable anodised block that stacks vertically. It allows the user to help themselves to a pen without fumbling around in a desk draw or looking under piles of papers.

The blocks take up a small footprint on the desk allowing pens to be stacked as high as you like. They are equally spaced for easy accessibility.

Reviews have been incredibly positive with many backers coming back for more blocks.

Could this new niche product catch on? Well it would seem so after one company placed an order for 300 units with their logos on, distributors have been kicking on the door to get deals and the company has managed to sell its first 1000 units.
