Sulantra, a leader in online language courses is running a one month crowdfunding campaign,, to provide free language courses to Syrian and other Arabic speaking refugees and asylum seekers.

The largest international exodus of refugees since the Second World War is happening today in Syria. Millions have been displaced escaping the turmoil. They find themselves dependant upon and becoming a burden to others in lands far from home. These refugees and asylum seekers desperately need the gift of language. This will allow them to take control of their lives and regain their dignity as they become more productive members of society. However, for Arabic speakers, there are no tested, effective online courses in the languages that they need.

Sulantra's courses target beginners and false beginners bringing them up to survival level in a new language as quickly as possible. We often work with non-mainstream languages and have Thais learning Korean, Bulgarians learning Turkish and everything in between.

Watching the Syrian refugee crisis unfold we have come to realize that Sulantra is in unique position to offer assistance. We have come up with an ambitious plan to provide free access to our language courses to these refugees and asylum seekers.

We are running this campaign to upload Arabic to our site where it will join fourteen other languages that we have uploaded so far. Once Arabic is in our system we will offer our language courses, to Syrian and other Arabic speaking refugees and asylum seekers for free.

The reality is that these refugees and asylum seekers need assistance. They are transitioning to host countries. And, the more quickly they adapt to their new surroundings and become productive members of society, the better.

Our online courses are true language courses providing task oriented lessons on a range of topics from shopping to transportation and much more. Also, they are loaded with cultural information allowing users a better understanding of both the language and the local customs

Language and the ability to communicate are extremely important. Once Arabic is uploaded Arabic speaking learners will have access to courses in German, Turkish, English, Italian and Bulgarian, as well as nine other languages. Sulantra’s language courses will be of great benefit to many, from the refugees and asylum seekers who find themselves sheltered in or bound for foreign lands to the aid workers and assistance providers working with them.

Our crowdfunding campaign will be held for the month of October. For further information about the campaign or Sulantra in general, please visit the campaign site (above), our site,
