Shiply releases its new look from June 2017

Internet marketplace Shiply has debuted it’s fresh new look last month, affecting many of its landing pages with a new layout and images.

The updated pages include their homepage as well as their vehicle transport, large item delivery and pet transport pages, which now feature a large, high-quality black and white image above the fold, with the focus on the clear call to action button in the centre-left of each page: “Get Free Quotes” in on-brand orange.

Below the fold, the pages have further images highlighting how easy it is to use Shiply, the benefits of Shiply and some examples of recent deliveries. Below again are the number of emissions that Shiply has prevented, followed by customer testimonials and some tips related to whichever service page you are on.

These new pages replace their video pages, which played constantly as you remained on the page. This switch to still images reflects the continuing trend for large, image-led simplicity with clear calls to action.

Shiply was founded in 2008 by CEO Robert Matthams, who thought of the idea for Shiply when having a pool table delivered to his university in Manchester and the delivery driver told him that he would be making the return trip to London with an empty vehicle.

Shiply was created to utilise the free space in delivery vehicles, as further research discovered that 25% of British lorries were travelling empty on British road and 50% only part-full.

Shiply offers several services including house removals and man and van services, as well as those that require more specialist drivers and equipment like car or boat transportation. Customers make a listing on Shiply, and vetted transport providers send quotes to compete to take on the job. A simple concept that prevents wasted vehicle space and saves money for customers who would normally be absorbing the costs of inefficient delivery journeys.

Since 2008, Shiply has won awards for its environmental benefits as well as several awards in its infancy as a startup. Today, Shiply is an eBay-compatible application, and has millions of customers across the UK, Canada, Australia and several European countries including Germany and Spain.
