Reasons why Microgaming scooped this year’s Spark award
A while back, the casino software developer put up an idea factory to host its staff members who could collect, filter, refine and present any idea as long as it was in line with the company’s vision. Microgaming’s idea factory is also concerned with processing and introducing new technology that would benefit the gaming industry in general.
When ideas are suggested, there is always a decision panel that comprises of the company’s senior staff members who are charged with the duty of either accepting or rejecting the idea.
The ideas highlighted below won the contest in 2016, and are now being implemented accordingly:
MGS House Lotto: this is an initiative that is concerned with running charity work by way of lotto game and scratch cards.
Emoticoins Online Slot: this is basically a slot machine that is based on emojis. It’s supposed to be released later this year.
Ideas Workshop: this is a new concept aimed at mainstreaming the process of target-oriented brainstorming.
These ideas have been expanded into 2 new offices at the start of 2017. Microgaming’s idea factory is set to be implemented on a company-wide scale this year.
Comments from the company’s head of innovation strategy, Lydia Barbara
She said they were nervous at first because there was fear that they would run out of ideas, and that would mean end of the project. But she soon discovered that the problem was not how to generate quality or a big number of ideas. Instead, the challenge was on how to refine and approve those ideas.
However, the process has been a success mainly because everyone who took part was enthusiastic. And with the great number of fantastic ideas coming through, there is no doubt that the company will benefit a great deal.
The above were sentiments from the company’s head of innovation strategy, which clearly shows why Microgaming deserved that award.
Helen Walton who is the co-founder of Spark also commented as follows:
The Spark Award saw a number of new entries into their list this year. However, their judges unanimously selected Microgaming’s idea factory.
The reason why the company won this award (according to the judges) was because Microgaming was composed of staff members who were practical and clear-sighted when it came to solving problems which many organizations struggle with. Besides this, Microgaming was also recognized for having employees who broaden their participation in innovative work. They created time, space, and even resources to allow conducive environment for nurturing ideas.
Microgaming currently hosts the largest progressive jackpot network. The company develops thousands of unique gaming genres for online casinos like www.wintingo.com
, although it does have interest in land-based casinos too. Other than producing Live Dealer solutions, the company also has products such as Sportsbook and Business Solutions &Quickfire.
