Langtang national park is the third popular trekking region in Nepal. Alpine lakes, grandiose snow peaks and fascinating Tibetan Buddhist and shamanistic practices make the region special. The easy access from the only international airport of Nepal, is a bonus. “After long international flight, trekkers don’t prefer to drive another day or take smaller flights to remote airstrips.” Says Kopila Sen, the general manager of ‘Anna Nepal Trek P Ltd’. “Langtang Trek gives them the freedom to stretch and walk in the nature right away. Beside that, the national parks have verity of trekking from easy to strenuous and from short to two weeks.” Added Miss Sen.

There are well established teahouses to accommodate and cater trekkers along the trail. The trails are not crowded as in Annapurna and Everest regions making Langtang more pristine and relaxed. Most popular routes leads to the alpine Lake of Gosaikunda and ‘Kyanjin Gompa’ in Langtang valley. Trekking to each destination could be planned within a week. For those looking for more adventure, there are challenges of climbing Cherko Ri (4,990 m) and Surya peak (5,145 m). Visit to both Kyanjin Gompa and Gosaikunda could be planned in one trek of about 10 days and the walking starts right from the northern rim of Kathmandu valley.

“Friend of mine wanted to climb a scenic, small peak over 3,500 m for the weekend and I took him to ‘Ama Yangri’ (3,800 m) “said Prabin Sen senior guide in ‘Anna Nepal Trek P Ltd’. Trekkers can drive closer to the peak in Helambu from Kathmandu, now a days. This makes it easy for those short of time but are looking for some hardcore adventure.

Helambu is a region north of Kathmandu, adjoining to Langtang and Shivapuri national park. The name came from the people Hyalmo who are Sherpas and practice Tibetan Buddhism. Typical to Buddhist domain, their villages are marked by beautiful entrance gate, Mani walls, monasteries and colorful prayers flag. ‘Ama Yangri’ is the most sacred peak of region that is overlooking at the eastern Himalayan ranges. This is also the highest peak that could be reached and climbed from Kathmandu as a weekend trip. P Ltd. has professional, guides with firsthand experience to organize short treks and climbing in Langtang, Shivapuri and Helambu region. Teahouse trek from 2 days to over 10 days could be planned in the region. The trekking starts just from the outskirt of Kathmandu. In spite of closeness with the capital of Nepal, the trekking is pristine and adventurous.
