Keystone Delivers Ideal Acoustics Solution for Ansarada Office Fitout 2017-06-28 08:34:22
Acoustics specialists Keystone have recently completed the Ansarada Office Fitout Project at The Rocks, Sydney. Keystone’s Key-Ply 12mm Eco Maple Plywood with whitewash finish was used to turn a space that was an ‘acoustic nightmare’ into something the clients love. This project was undertaken by Those Architects, a Sydney-based practice, that is known for its quality design outcomes.

Ben Mitchell and Simon Addinall from Those Architects said, “We inherited the shell of the old building with all its hard surfaces of brick, timber and glass, effectively an acoustic nightmare. As Ansarada is a highly interactive business, with lots of talking, discussion and verbal development of ideas the acoustics were therefore always going to be a major issue for us to deal with. We were thinking about how we could address this in an elegant way from day one and we worked very closely with our acoustic consultant to ensure a successful outcome for the client in this regard. Concurrently we developed the pegboard system that achieves that dual use we were constantly striving for, utilising the perforations in the acoustic plywood as a means for the staff to pin up ideas using coloured dowels. The clients LOVE this – they use the system all the time to workshop and develop new products.”

Keystone was the acoustics consultant to the architects of the Ansarada Office Fitout Project. The Key-Ply 12mm Eco Maple Plywood with White Wash Finish played a significant role in making this project a grand success. The Key-Ply product was custom designed and perforated for maximum acoustic performance, as per the design brief by Those Architects.

While speaking about this project, the architects said, “The biggest challenge for us was to figure out how to accommodate the technological brief in a way that retains the integrity of the space. It sounds simple, but architecturally we had to work incredibly hard to make sure the space met the client’s technological requirements, yet concurrently presents a clean and legible contemporary architectural installation within the existing heritage fabric which we were adamant should also be expressed.”

Keystone has been at the forefront of creating beautiful, functional and high performance acoustic systems for more than 40 years. This Australian company has been transforming commercial spaces and facades into sophisticated architectural pieces through their broad range of products. Their products include Key-Py, Key-Endura, Key-Lena, Key-Board and Key-Graphix among others. They offer custom designed decorative panels and ceiling acoustic tiles.
