NEW DELHI, Aug. 26, 2015: DSATS, based in New Delhi, India announces a breakthrough in delivery of electricity over the air while providing constant current to stationary and in-motion devices. Dubbed, WET (Wireless Electricity transmission) that consists of a transmitter and receiving station that can charge Mobile Devices, Tablets and batteries from a distance of upto 40 feet.
The setup consists of two units, an Access point and a Receiving Station. The receiving Unit is two inches wide with a USB output enabling compatibility with most Mobile and Tablets devices. The Access point, (Wireless power transmitter) needs to be connected to a electrical source such as a live Power socket. The receiving unit when placed in proximity of the Wireless Electricity transmitter or Access point is able to receive electricity over thin air.
At this time all leading smartphones, tablets and portable batteries can be charged using this setup while work on Phase 2 is under way to offer a high power base station to charge laptops and battery less devices such as TVs.
Dr. Ankur Srivastava (hc), founder of DSATS, commented that "Conversion of Radio into electric current has been available for quite some time, but our Research Labs have been able to create real world applications which can now charge high energy devices such as Mobile Phones, Tablets and backup batteries".
Their next phase of their development cycle promises to extend wireless electricity transmission to over a mile, thus creating a City-Wide wireless power grid. The team at DSATS R&D labs is seeking funding to create a Stage 2 device that can transmit wireless power over large distances.
