Over the Christmas period there are many charitable causes for people in need and that also means assistance for their closest companions too
From Berlin Tiertafel to the Obdachlosenfest Homeless Dinner, It’s a Christmas of Solidarity for Our Four-Legged Friends
Christmas has also arrived for our four-legged friends, thanks to companies that assist people in need and give a help to their pets as well. This is how Almo Nature, an all-natural pet food company, is ending the last few months of the year, by donating over 10 tons of pet food as part of a sustained social initiative to help animals in need.
Over the past few days, a collaboration between Almo Nature and Berlin Tiertafel saw hundreds of people line up from the early hours of the morning to receive their Christmas donation of pet food.
“Animals are extremely important companions for these people. Many of them are on a low income, unemployed, ill, need special care or only receive a small pension. A situation anyone could be in, because all it takes is a sudden illness or an accident and you can find yourself unable to work and adequately support yourself. That can sometimes mean, no more duties, no more colleagues and almost no social contact, because you simply can’t afford the good things in life. For many sick people, their pets are their only joy and we want this companionship to thrive for a long time to come”, states Linda Oldenburg of Berlin Tiertafel.
“We’ve delivered 1.8 tons of pet food”, said Andrea Weber, Almo Nature Ambassador in Germany. “Almo Nature dedicates a lot of its resources to animal causes. These donations are part of the Almo Nature ‘A Pet Is for Life’ European project, which aims to drastically reduce animal abandonment and improve the animal rights. However, we do not just want to be there in an emergency, we want to provide concrete on-going solutions too. Under this project, thanks to cat and dog rescues involved, we provide responsible pet adopters with a month’s supply of free pet food. We want and hope that this will help to create a community centred around respect for our domestic animals”.
In 2017, we helped cats and dogs in emergency collaborating with:
We involved also the Tierheim Koblenz, which received a donation of 585.20 kg of cat and dog food.
We want to reaffirm the importance of the meaning “A pet is for Life” being part of the Next Obdachlosenfest Homeless Dinner, where Almo Nature donated 1.094 kilos of pet food.
In Germany, Almo Nature is also involved in the ‘Farmers&Predators’ a European initiative launched by Almo Nature with the purpose of changing the relationship between man and predators, creating concrete solutions to reduce conflict in agricultural and livestock activities, with an added focus on valorising the smaller producers.
For this project we are actively conducting the ‘Reduce the Conflict’ action that provides food for livestock guardian dogs through the quarterly supply of food to the companies participating in the scheme, while at the same time prevent the hunting of the grey wolf, a protected species, which despite its gradual expansion across the territory is currently at risk. Through these actions, Almo Nature aims to spread the message that biodiversity is a valuable resource and that respect for the species can bring benefit to the production realities in rural areas.
In December, Almo Nature has donated dog food for 115 guard dogs to "Verein für arbeitende Herdenschutzhunde in Deutschland e.V.” association. To date, Almo Nature has donated 1.725 tons of dog food in Germany to support the project.
The involvement towards animals took Almo Nature stakeholders to choose to donate the 100% of the shares of Almo Nature Spa, and its branches, to a Foundation. This donation of stocks means that all dividends distributed by Almo Nature - thanks to the profits generated by its customers – will only be available to the Foundation; its purposes will be the protection of cats and dogs and the preservation of biodiversity: animals and environment will be the real owners of Almo Nature.
