Montclair residents, Judith Schumacher-Tilton and her grandson, Jake Magaldi, are the authors of a new children’s book, The Adventures of Meadowlark and His Passion for Golf, published on July 7 by Woodpecker Press. This is their first book, which began with a “little seed” planted by Judi and came to life through Jake’s creative writing. Because of their shared love for each other and the game of golf, it blossomed into a heartwarming story.

This beautifully illustrated book is about a little bird who wants to learn how to play golf and envisions sharing his knowledge with all the other birds. Meadowlark, a big-hearted, tiny bird, is different, but you can’t tell by looking at him because he looks just like his brothers and sisters. And like all birds, he loves to sing. But unlike the other birds living in the valley near a golf course called Somerset Pines, Meadowlark is fascinated by the game of golf and determined to learn how to play. This is his story.

Judith Schumacher-Tilton is president of Schumacher Chevrolet Auto Group, New Jersey’s largest volume Chevy dealer, with dealerships in Little Falls, Denville, Clifton, and Livingston. She is the recipient of multiple awards for her leadership roles in business, in her industry, and in the community she serves. Along with her son Stephen Tilton Jr., she established Give the Kids Hope Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization that supports educational and recreational opportunities for underprivileged children in New Jersey, which has attracted support from David Harris of the NY JETS, who serves as spokesperson for the foundation.

Jake Magaldi is a student at Montclair High School. Among the things he loves most are writing, the outdoors, and the world around him. In his free time, Jake enjoys playing golf with friends and family, including his grandmother, Judith Tilton.

The first book signing will be held at Watchung Booksellers, 54 Fairfield Street, Montclair, on October 11, 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will be a presentation by the authors, after which attendees can meet the authors and have the books they purchase autographed.

Although walk-ins are welcome at this free event, please call Watchung Booksellers at 973-744-7177 to reserve your seat or an autographed copy of the book.

The book was published by Woodpecker Press (www.WoodpeckerPress.com), of Bayville, New Jersey. For more information about the book, to learn more about the authors, or to order the book, visit www.JudithTilton.com. The book is also available for purchase at Watchung Booksellers.
