NEW YORK (AP) - Jorge Posada hit a game-winning single in the 12th inning to lift the New York Yankees to a 6-5 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League on Saturday.
With one out and runners on first and second, Posada lined a pitch into center field. Alex Rodriguez scored without a play at the plate.
The Yankees have won nine of 10 to move a season-best 14 games above .500 and pull within a game of AL East-leading Boston.
Toronto has lost six of seven.
Mariners 3, Red Sox 2
In Boston, Chris Woodward's bases-loaded pop up in the ninth inning dropped behind a partially drawn-in infield, scoring the go-ahead run that lifted Seattle over Boston.
Seattle capitalized on Boston pitcher Takashi Saito's wildness for the winning rally. Saito walked the bases loaded with one out before Woodward's pop up, which scored the runner from third easily.
Twins 4, Tigers 3
In Minneapolis, Justin Morneau had four hits, including a homer and the tying single in the seventh inning, as Minnesota came back to beat Detroit.
The winner came in the eighth. Nick Punto poked a soft single over the outstretched glove of the shortstop to allow the pinch-runner to score on a head-first slide at the plate, just ahead of the relay throw.
The result pulled the Twins within three games of the AL Central-leading Tigers.
Royals 6, White Sox 4

In Kansas City, Missouri, Alberto Callaspo drove in three runs to help Kansas City snap Chicago's seven-game winning streak.
The Royals eclipsed their run total from their previous four games put together.
Callaspo hit an RBI triple in the fifth for Kansas City's first run in 13 innings. His two-run single in the fifth made it 5-4 and gave the Royals their first lead for 38 innings. Callaspo's errors at second base had figured in Kansas City's four-game losing streak.
It was the Royals' first win in seven tries this season against the White Sox.
