Wyoming Gov. Dave Freudenthal will deliver the keynote address at this year’s Gasification Technologies Conference on Oct. 5 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The conference is the largest gasification industry event in the world, with more than 1,000 attendees at the 2008 event. This year’s conference, to be held October 4–7, 2009, is a premier opportunity to network and learn about the latest technical, market and policy trends affecting the industry.
“Gasification technology offers the promise of harnessing the energy contained in Wyoming’s vast coal deposits with lower carbon emissions,” said Gov. Freudenthal. “This has the potential to add value to our resource base, provide well-paying jobs and long term economic growth in our state. Development of this technology is an important piece
of the bigger picture going forward, in which our nation will need a diverse array of energy resources to meet our growing demand.”
The $100 early-bird registration discount expires on Sept. 1, and those interested in attending are encouraged to register now.
This year’s conference is expected to attract registrants from more than 30 countries, 300-400 companies and some 50 exhibitors.
The conference program is now available online:

Those who attend this year can take part in discussions on developments in gasification and carbon dioxide sequestration technologies, as well as hear updates on key projects, including FutureGen. These technologies will be critical in producing clean energy from coal and reducing greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
“The prospects for gasification are better than ever, and that’s why this annual conference is more important than ever,” said James Childress, Executive Director of the Gasification Technologies Council.

The Gasification Technologies Council represents more than 70 companies that are playing an important role in revitalizing the American economy, at the same time that they are helping to meet the nation’s energy needs. Members of the GTC provide technologies, equipment or services, or own and operate plants that account for more than 95 percent of gasification capacity around the world. They are also involved in a number of new U.S. projects being planned, designed, or under construction.
