2008-10-23 07:32:55 - Glasgow restaurants events and offers for World Vegan Day are inspired by 64 year old Paul McCartney's songs

OB-LA-DI OB-LA-DA!

It's veganism's birthday on the 1st November and veggie venues in Glasgow such as Mono, Stereo and organic maestros at The 78 are celebrating the ‘when I'm 64', 64th vegan year with a delicious all day, gastronomically vegan day tripper ticket to ride for only £10.

World Vegan Day Tune

It was 64 years ago today, when Donald Watson taught his band to play, and said 'It's been a hard day's night but I'll get by with a little help from my friends, I should have known better all along, this is from me to you- let it be known from now on, that vegetarianism is going nowhere man, it's yesterday, the new way is Vegan, the beginning and end

of vegetarianism. This is the start of a revolution, like back in the USSR, we can work it out, I want to hold your hand, and help, we got to get back to basics - say hello, goodbye to all animal suffering and squandering of the earth's precious resources. All you need is love but you can't buy me love, tell me why we can't live and let live cruelty free eight days a week. You don't need a ticket to ride, baby you can drive my car and we can live in strawberry fields forever so don't tell me - Hey, you've got to hide your love away! Please please me, I'm not some fool on the hill, please please your body, please please the planet, please please the animals '

Do you want to know a secret?

It's not just celebrities such as Lady Madonna, Lucy in the sky with diamonds , dear prudence, lovely Rita, Maggie Mae, Eleanor Rigby, sexy Sadie Frost, dizzy Miss Lizzy, Natalie Portman and Jacquin Phoenix that are discovering the Vegan way. Even Oprah Winfrey went vegan this summer. Many more people are embracing veganism and saying ‘got to get you into my life' to a lifestyle that's kinder to people, health, animals and the environment.

Half Price Menu

Ethical entrepreneur Craig Tannock was inspired by one of the world's greatest living vegetarian legends, Sir Paul McCartney and the lyrics of one of McCartney's many songs 'Will you still feed me, when I'm 64?'. Tannock said 'We thought we'd devise a wee magical mystery tour and provide a Glasgow World Vegan Day tripper ticket to ride that will give people the chance to have an animal free breakfast, lunch and a dinner in three different venues for only £10. We hope the prospect of stuffing a face all day long for only a tenner will entice more people to try delicious food and drink that is kinder to health, animals and the environment.'

We can work it out.

If everyone in the UK abstained from eating meat even for one day a week, this would save 13 megatons CO2 of greenhouse gas emissions. This would result in greater carbon savings than taking 5 million cars off the road in the UK (10.4 Mt CO2). It would be almost equivalent to replacing one billion light bulbs with low-energy ones.*

Ate days a week.

If all British people ate a meat-free diet seven days a week, they would save 91 megatons of greenhouse gas emissions. This would save as much as 254 million return flights from London to Ibiza (254,465,400).*
