The National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians (NABET-CWA) launched LonelyDavidGregory.com : today to update Meet the Press viewers on whether there would be any guests this weekend.

NABET-CWA is announcing a call to action for all of those who stand with working families to –not appear on Meet The Press until NBC Universal has agreed to stop

"embargoing" its employees. NBC management has been attacking good union jobs and putting working families in a difficult position.

NABET-CWA has been in negotiations that started more than a year ago and has been sequestered over several important issues, including the company’s proposal to allow management to protect up to 25% of its most-favored employees from layoff, putting more senior employees at risk.

Casting a shadow over the talks is the company’s implementation of so-called “new” job titles at its owned stations. These “content producer” and “platform manager” positions are virtually indistinguishable from jobs NABET-CWA represented workers have performed for decades. “The work itself doesn’t change – people are largely doing the same jobs they’ve been doing through their careers as editors, news photographers and newswriters,” said NABET-CWA Sector Vice President Jim Joyce, “but they are being forced to reapply as a ‘content producer’ with no union contract.”

The launch of LonelyDavidGregory.com will combine online advertising with a text messaging platform to inform people of late breaking alerts regarding NABET’s struggle against NBC Universal’s Meet the Press.

NABET-CWA hopes this contract negotiation can be resolved peacefully and without a full strike on NBC Universal : .

You can join the alerts by texting MTP to 228466, or by submitting your cell phone number on the website.
