Elle Yi wants parents out there to know they are not alone. To prove it, she launched ParentingInformer.com to bring parents together.

“Being a parent is the best job in the world,” she said. “But like any job, sometimes a helping hand is needed. Sometimes, we all need someone to show us a new way to do something. Sometimes, no matter how much we enjoy parenting, we need to know that things do go wrong and other people have gone through it.”

The website contains parenting advice for the good and the bad, she said. Some recent advice columns on the site covered taking children to the dentist for the first time, when to start music lessons and teaching kids to have

respect.

The site is more than just parenting tips. It has links to books, free apps and educational websites for parents and children.

“It’s my goal to have ParentingInformer to be a one stop local for the things a parent needs to know. I don’t intend to open a Internet store to sell things like diapers and food, but the site is certainly going to talk about diapers and how to feed children healthy food in a way they will enjoy it,” she said.

The site also contains inspiration for parents. Ms. Yi calls it a “quick spirit boost to help moms and dads get through a day or just a pick-you-up when the skies are dark and gray.”

Ms. Yi is also constantly looking for new items to put on the site and new writers with advice they are willing to share. She encourages reader feedback to help with this.

“You may know something about a new product. Share it. You may be a parent who has an experience you think is unique. Share that and you may find out it’s not so unique after all,” she said. “We want to cover the entire child experience from birth to sending them to college.”

Single parents are also welcome, she said.
