Seattle, Washington, USA - August 27, 2008 - Twisted Pair Solutions (www.twistpair.com), a pioneer in unified communications software built to open standards, today announced its WAVE software was demonstrated with the Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS) 2007 solution during a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) terror response exercise held in San Diego. The event entitled 'Operation Golden Phoenix 2008' brought

federal, state, county, city and private sector entities together to test FEMA's concept of an all-hazards approach to emergency management. During the event, attendees learned more about the critical role that a unified communications platform and a Joint Emergency Planning and Response System (JEPRS) can play in supporting emergency response scenarios using affordable, reliable commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) technologies. At the core of this demonstration was Twisted Pair's ability to provide instant, seamless communications of incompatible communications devices, networks and applications.

The simulation was designed to help government and private sector representatives trial solutions that eliminate issues and dangers related to incompatible and disjointed emergency response policies. Solutions demonstrated during the event were tested against FEMA's strict guidelines for flexible, efficient and cost-effective utilization of limited equipment and personnel assets. WAVE met these qualifications along with existing National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) policies and procedures.

'Twisted Pair has extensive experience deploying strong, interoperable communications in mission critical environments, and is therefore a key partner for us in this space,' said Allen G. Abrahamson, Unified Communication Specialist at Microsoft. 'WAVE's ability to integrate land and mobile radios with other applications, including our Office Communicator client, was a popular demo among the many government and civilian agencies in attendance. We're happy to be teaming with a company dedicated to eliminating the communication bottlenecks of emergency response teams across the globe.'

Announced in July 2008, WAVE 4.0 enables real-time, secure, group communications over the IP network. WAVE connects emergency workers who are using disparate and oftentimes incompatible communications technologies, including two-way radios, personal computers, cell phones and IP phones, into a single, interoperable and easily manageable communications system. Embedded directly into a Microsoft OCS 2007 desktop client or SharePoint® Web page, the WAVE Web Communicator allows users to access any other WAVE communications endpoint with a simple click. Leveraging this tight integration, Microsoft and Twisted Pair demonstrated how organizations can cost-effectively create an open, reliable, and highly scaleable group communications platform leveraging existing technology.

'In this exercise, we proved that the expensive and short-lived communications interoperability ‘rip and replace' strategies of the past are no longer a viable option for today's public safety organizations,' said Tom Guthrie, President and CEO at Twisted Pair Solutions. 'By expanding the capabilities of existing equipment, emergency response organizations can quickly, easily and cost-effectively connect emergency response parties using dissimilar systems.'

The technologies showcased during this event demonstrated how disaster response leaders and their personnel can communicate directly with each other using existing communications gear, regardless of location. The result is better planning, better use of resources and better care of first responders during dangerous response operations.
