WatchDox : .. , a provider of secure enterprise file-sync-and-share (EFSS) solutions to protect, share and collaborate on files on any device, today announced a partnership with Oslo, Norway-based Fjord IT : .. , one of Europe’s greenest virtual data centers. Together, Fjord IT and WatchDox offer sustainability and security to enterprises in Scandinavia and Central Europe, who want regionally hosted solutions for both green cloud services and mobile enterprise management and collaboration.

With a combination of hydropower and energy efficient technology, Fjord IT delivers a virtual data center that helps customers expand their computing power in a nearly carbon-neutral way. Those customers – cloud providers, service providers, telcos and large enterprises – wanted a European hosted, secure

alternative to typical file-sync-and-sharing services. By partnering with WatchDox, Fjord IT gives its customers the ability to access, protect, annotate and collaborate with files wherever they go, on every device, even those beyond the enterprise – in the most sustainable and secure way possible.

“Fjord IT and WatchDox give us a platform-as-a-service and secure file-sharing option with a completely European footprint,” said Per Kristian Nielsen, senior business developer of Fujitsu Norway, a customer of both companies. “We can support our mobile enterprise and collaboration initiatives in an environmentally responsible manner, without ceding control of our file security, which is a critical flaw in other cloud offerings.”

Helge Gallefoss, founder of Fjord IT, said, “We are as selective as our customers when it comes to choosing technologies to integrate with our data center services. While one of our core missions is sustainability, we deliver it in a way that supports other enterprise initiatives, including mobility, collaboration and security. WatchDox is the perfect partner for helping Fjord IT fulfill that multi-faceted mission.”

Ryan Kalember, WatchDox chief product officer, said, “Fjord IT is a powerhouse of green cloud services in its region. WatchDox already counts many of the largest companies in Europe as our customers, and I’m excited that we’ll now be able to deliver a cloud solution that frees European organizations from worries about the NSA and the Patriot Act.

At the same time, they’ll be able to take advantage of the massive benefits of file sync and share in the most sustainable way possible.”
