MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- (Marketwire) -- 11/25/09 -- Walden University President Jonathan Kaplan and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Denise DeZolt recently took to the airwaves nationwide, giving interviews to AM and FM radio talk show hosts in Atlanta; Baltimore; Boston; Cincinnati; Chicago; Knoxville, Tenn.; Minot and Bismarck, N.D.; New York; Orlando, Fla.; Phoenix; Richmond, Va.; St.
Louis; and Tampa, Fla. Kaplan and DeZolt explained the benefits of pursuing an online education for working adults in today's economic climate and offered advice about what to look for in a quality online university.

Among the topics Kaplan and DeZolt discussed was the importance of tracking alumni success as an indicator of educational quality. They pointed out that, according to a 2007 graduate survey, more than 80 percent of Walden doctoral graduates were promoted as a result of earning their degrees and more than two-thirds of the university's master's graduates received promotions within a year of earning their degrees.

Kaplan and DeZolt also noted that Walden University students often say that it's actually easier to stay motivated in online classes compared to campus-based courses. There is no back row in an online classroom, for example, and every student has to participate in the discussion. Both emphasized that students find that the 24-hour accessibility of online education helps balance their academic work with their careers and family lives.
