Volkswagen Middle East gears up for regional launch of new Golf R

UAE, 11 February 2014: The all-new Golf R is set to make its Middle East debut at this year’s Qatar Motor Show, 20th to 25th February 2014. The dynamic new compact sports car, and flagship of the model series, is due to arrive at Volkswagen dealerships across the region this summer. Its arrival will complete the series lineup, joining the Golf and Golf GTI, which arrived in the region in 2013.

The new Golf R will offer more power and efficiency than previously seen in the Golf R models and is regarded as the most powerful version of the model series ever built.

Thomas Milz, Managing Director, Volkswagen

Middle East said: “The Golf R has continued to be one of our most exciting models since its launch in 2009 and each new generation has created huge excitement amongst motoring enthusiasts alike worldwide.

“As a result of a newly configured sport suspension system and a new progressive steering system, the new Golf R delivers a dynamic performance unlike any other model. The highly developed performance and agility of this car only adds to the excitement and fun of driving and we know drivers in the Middle East will be eagerly waiting to experience that for themselves. I am thrilled to debut this model in Qatar as the newest addition to the Volkswagen family,” he continued.

The popularity of the new Golf and Golf GTI contributed to the 30% delivery increase experienced by Volkswagen Middle East in 2013 with the new Golf R set to make similar waves in 2014.
