www.verari.com - Verari Systems Mike LaPan, 858-874-3800 mike.lapan@verari.com or LVA Communications Joanne Hogue, 410-658-8246 joanne@lva.com Verari Systems, a premier developer of independent blade-based computing and storage platforms for the data center with the highest density, availability, and energy efficiency in the market, today announced it is a finalist in the 15th Annual
AeA San Diego Council's High Tech Awards. Chosen in the "Clean Technology Category" for its FOREST Container solution, Verari was one of the first in the industry to engineer and deliver a solution that packages high density storage and compute blades with self-contained cooling into a portable data center that can be shipped virtually anywhere.
"The fact that Verari Systems was founded on the principle of 'thinking green' and defining a new era in high performance utility computing for the enterprise data center, makes the company an ideal finalist for the AeA High Tech Awards in the Clean Technology Category," said Kevin Carroll, executive director, AeA San Diego Council. "It is companies such as Verari Systems that advance the San Diego region's position as a center for technology innovation."
The Verari FOREST container solution is a portable data center that can be rapidly deployed wherever extremely power-efficient compute and storage solutions are needed at a fraction of the cost per square foot of a traditional data center. The FOREST container is designed to house over 2000 blade-based compute servers or nearly 12 petabytes of blade-based storage by utilizing Verari's BladeRack(R) 2 X-Series platforms in a modular unit. The solution makes use of the same industry-leading patented Vertical Cooling Technology(TM) that has established Verari Systems as the leader in energy-efficient cooling for blade-based solutions.
"It is an extraordinary honor to be recognized for accomplishments in leading the way to the Green Data Center," said David B. Wright, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Verari Systems. "Through innovation, we have developed the FOREST container solution to save energy and reduce IT overhead, but also to improve community relations and provide healthy, eco-conscious environments."
Verari's membership in The Green Grid, Climate Savers Computing Initiative and Silicon Valley Leadership Group tracks closely with the company's dedication to protecting the environment by developing data center solutions engineered for maximum availability, power efficiency, cooling and density.
Each year, the San Diego chapter of the AeA, the nation's largest high-tech industry association, recognizes local technology companies for their achievements in technological innovation, civic contributions and industry accomplishment. Winners of this year's awards will be recognized in AeA's premier technology networking event on October 31, 2008 at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California.
