Addressing the National Assembly, Interior & Justice (MIJ) Minister Tarek El Aissami has named two Colombians and one Venezuelan, allegedly belonging to a Colombian spy ring. VHeadline News Editor Patrick J. O'Donoghue reports:
The names of the accused are Eduardo Gonzalez Munoz and Angel Jacinto Guanare (Colombian citizens) and Melvir Argenis Gutierrez (Venezuelan).
It would appear that the surveillance operation took form on October 2 in Maracaibo (Zulia) and leading to the arrests sometime afterwards.
The Minister said Venezuelan intelligence agents were able to get hold of a
document outlining what he calls a "major spy operation against our country and countries of the region."
El Aissami told deputies that the document dealt with a Colombian Secret Service (DAS) disciplinary internal investigation into security leaks.
In the document, he declared, there is a declaration from DAS agent, Monica Cardoso Espinoza in Bogota last April ... the agent is accused of the leak concerning spy operations and contacts with extreme groups called Project Salomon, described as of national security.
The Minister also mentioned a declaration by Colombian Secret Service agent, Carlos Orjuela Orjuela, supposedly responsible for Project Falcon that concentrates on Venezuela and destabilization plans against the Venezuelan government.
