2014-03-22 07:10:19 - Velvet Ditch Productions is proud to announce its move into post-production on feature documentary, “I Didn’t Do It,” filmed in Mississippi. The production company also is announcing its fundraising campaign on IndieGoGo for finishing funds for the film.
“We have been working for almost a year to capture the life of Paul Kevin Curtis and his outrageous, wrongful arrest by Federal authorities,” Director Melanie Addington said.
On April 17, 2013, forty-eight hours after the Boston Marathon bombing, and twenty-four hours after letters containing ricin, addressed to the president were discovered, Kevin Curtis was arrested on suspicion of terrorist activity. Kevin was taken from his home in Corinth, Mississippi to the Federal Detention Center in Oxford, Mississippi. After hours of grueling interrogations, Kevin was placed in a cell at the Lafayette County Jail. It was only after Kevin overheard a comment from another inmate that Kevin realized he was accused of sending ricin laced letters to the President of
the United States, Senator Roger Wicker and a local judge.
The problem was, he didn't do it.
Velvet Ditch Productions LLC has qualified for the Missisissippi Film Incentives and has received the Mississippi Film and Video Alliance grant. We are looking to raise $50,000 for the finishing funds for the film. On the crowdfunding site, IndieGoGo, there are numerous rewards at each level of giving from $5 to $5,000. In addition, Director Melanie Addington has teamed up with several great businesses and individuals to hold a raffle for those who donate at each level. Winners will be announced at the end of the campaign.
