Vegetarian pop sensation LEONA LEWIS turned down a $1.85 million (£1 million) offer to open the summer (08) sale at London department store Harrods - because it sells fur.
The Bleeding Love hitmaker, who gave up meat when she was 12 years old, refused to accept the lucrative deal from Harrods owner Mohammed Al Fayed, because she doesn't want to be associated with any store or brand that appears to promote the use of fur.
She says, "I'm totally against animal cruelty. I don't have clothes, shoes or bags made from any animal products." The honour instead went to Sex and the City actress Kim Cattrall.
Harrods has declined to comment on the reports. It is the only department store in the U.K. that continues to sell fur, according to Britain's Daily Mail newspaper.
