The annual gala Dallas Rocks 2009: Diamond Dinner benefiting Diamond Empowerment Fund (D.E.F.) to take place on November 14th, 2009 honoring Bush twins Barbara Bush and Jenna Bush Hager.

Public Relations Blog reports that Vanessa and Angela Simmons will present Bush twins Barbara Bush and Jenna Bush Hager with the Rising Star Empowerment Award benefiting Diamond Empowerment Fund (D.E.F.) at the annual Dallas Rocks 2009: Diamond Dinner with cuisine by Wolfgang Puck. The event is scheduled to be held on November 14, 2009 from 6:30 P.M. to 1:00 A.M. at the Dallas Historic Union Station.

Host of the event is founder Russell Simmons (uncle to Angela and Vanessa) and Anthony Anderson of Law and Order. In 2008 the Dallas Rocks gala raised $250,000.00 benefiting D.E.F. Simmons founded D.E.F. in 2007, along with other individuals in the diamond and jewelry industries and others who are committed to the empowerment of Africa. The organization helps to benefit CIDA (Community and Individual Development Association) and African Leadership Academy, which are both based in Johannesburg, South Africa. The Simmons Jewelry Co.'s GREEN BRACELET is the symbol of the cause and has raised more than $650,000 for the fund to date.
Other honorees include Marilyn Auger, founder of the Marilyn Auger Family Foundation. Auger’s foundation is a Dallas based nonprofit that seeks to break the cycle of poverty. Former NBA player Dikembe Mutombo (well known humanitarian) will also receive an honor for the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation which seeks to improve living conditions in his native Congo.
Celebrity guest appearances will be a performance by legendary singer, songwriter and record producer Smokey Robinson. Other special guests shall include DJ Cassidy, two time Super Bowl winner Ray Crockett and wife April, Dallas socialite Heidi Dillon founder of The Fashionistas Inc. a nonprofit organization. Plus Rev Run and Justine Simmons will be present, which Rev. Run will be celebrating his birthday on the same night of the gala.
Tickets for Dallas Rocks 2009 gala range from $150 “Pave After-Party” to $750 “Green Diamond” tickets. The Diamond Dinner tickets are sold out. There will be an auction that will include fine diamond jewelry, travel excursions, unique celebrity experiences and award-winning designs from the Women's Jewelry Association's 2009 Diva Awards.
