Valensi Rose, PLC is pleased to announce that Michael R. Morris was named one of the top tax attorneys in Los Angeles by the Los Angeles Business Journal as part of its published list of L.A.’s Top 100 Lawyers of 2009.

As a former trial lawyer for the IRS and a Certified Specialist in Taxation Law, Mr. Morris has blended his tax law expertise and his passion for music and entertainment into a practice that is unique. His practice areas are tax controversy and transactional matters, estate planning, music, entertainment

and general business law.

The entertainment industry is a niche in which Michael has developed a strong base of loyal clients. While attending the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, he worked at a jazz club and regularly wrote music articles for local publications. When he eventually moved to Los Angeles, it was natural for him to find clients in the music industry.

His interest in music and years of serving clients in entertainment has gained him a solid reputation for providing business solutions in areas such as copyright and contractual matters. He has also served as the president of the California Copyright Conference.

His entertainment industry clients have included post production houses, industry executives of major studios, talent agents, composers, record labels, production companies and Grammy winners. Among his recording artist clients are La Toya Jackson, Alice Cooper, Spencer Day, Kurt Elling and Ministry.

Although Mr. Morris’ core competency is within the tax and entertainment arena, his clientele covers a wide range of businesses. He has the distinction of being named a “Super Lawyer” among Southern California lawyers for 2006-2009. He writes and speaks regularly on matters pertaining to tax and music and has frequently appeared before business and professional groups that welcome the combination of his business, legal tax and entertainment perspectives.

He received his J.D. from the University of Arizona College of Law, where he was awarded the prestigious Order of the Coif and wrote for the Arizona Law Review.
