www.univaud.com/ - Univa UD Mary Bass (512) 692-4118 mary@univaud.com Univa UD, a pioneer in HPC systems management products for the complete distributed computing lifecycle, announced today that the company has joined the Intel Cluster Ready Program and will ship a Cluster Ready version of its UniCluster Express product in the third quarter of 2008.

"Intel(R) Cluster Ready establishes a baseline specification that dramatically reduces the time-to-value for cluster technology users," said Gary Tyreman, Univa UD Vice President and General Manager of High Performance Computing. "The program simplifies the critical first stages of HPC lifecycle management, from acquisition and testing through deployment, so cluster users can more quickly reach the stage they care about most: utilization and growth."

The

Intel Cluster Ready program and technology package make it easier for end users to acquire clusters and deploy them to run applications. In collaboration with OEMs and ISVs, the program ensures that applications written to run on one certified cluster can reliably run on another certified cluster; conversely, a certified cluster will support multiple Intel Cluster Ready ISV applications.

"Industry support for Intel(R) Cluster Ready continues to grow and Intel welcomes Univa UD joining the community," said Bill Magro, director, High Performance Computing Solutions, Intel Corporation Software and Solutions Group. "We look forward to working with Univa UD to increase the options for customers seeking the simplified selection and deployment of application-ready clusters."

"Users across the industry have shown dissatisfaction with the work required to deploy and maintain technical clusters, due to incompatibilities or version discrepancies among the various pieces of software," said Addison Snell, Vice President of Tabor Research. "The Intel Cluster Ready program specifies a common, certified environment which can be extremely beneficial in setting up and running new systems, especially for new users."

UniCluster Express is a fully integrated, community-enabled open source cluster software stack with unrestricted support for all its components. This free, downloadable product simplifies the deployment, configuration and management of clusters, from installation and configuration to job scheduling, monitoring and remote access.

UniCluster Express is currently available for download from Grid.org (www.grid.org), the online community for open source cluster and grid software users, administrators and developers. The mission of the site is to provide a single location where open source cluster and grid information can be aggregated so that people with a similar range of interests can easily exchange information, experiences and ideas related to the complete open source cluster software stack.
