Reed V. Tuckson, M.D., executive vice president and chief of medical affairs, UnitedHealth Group, released the following statement commenting on the six health care priorities identified today by the National Priorities Partnership:
"UnitedHealth Group enthusiastically endorses the priorities of the National Priorities Partnership, convened by the National Quality Forum. If all key stakeholders, who participate in providing health and

medical care services, coordinate their efforts on these important priorities, collectively we can significantly improve the health status of our nation. UnitedHealth Group is excited to be a part of this collective effort.
"We have been a long-time advocate for these priorities, with programs that promote patient-centered and effective care, consumer activation and decision support, wellness and disease prevention, care coordination, appropriate and compassionate care at the end of life, and the elimination of redundant and inappropriate care, in collaboration with care providers.
"UnitedHealth Group's extensive benefit and care facilitation capabilities, such as our care and disease management programs and our performance assessment and quality improvement initiatives, are aligned with these priorities. Our industry-leading data and analytic capabilities offer the entire healthcare system the tools needed to achieve measurable and meaningful progress. As we look to deliver on these priorities, we will also highlight and continue to support the crucial role of Community Health Centers in advancing these priorities in these challenging economic times.
