UNITED NATIONS (AP) - The United Nations is expressing concern at the state of relations between Georgia and Russia.
Their relations have been strained following Moscow's recent decision to establish direct ties with two breakaway Georgian regions and send in more troops.
U.N. deputy spokeswoman Marie Okabe says all actions by the parties should comply with
Security Council resolutions affirming support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Georgia says it fears Russia's plans to send more troops to the breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia could be in preparation for an Ğact of military aggression.
Russia says its military buildup is in response to Georgian deployments near the two regions and is aimed at protecting Russian citizens there.
