2010-03-10 16:21:50 - The first U.S. Practical Shooting Association regional match of the year, the Area 6 Championship sponsored by Glock, looks to kick off the championship season in strong fashion with the recent addition of eight corporate sponsors.

SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. — The first U.S. Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) regional match of the year, the Area 6 Championship sponsored by Glock, looks to kick off the championship season in strong fashion with the addition of eight corporate sponsors.

Antler Printing, Competitive Edge Dynamics, Pro-Tech Co. and Velocity Shooter will be stage sponsors while Accurate Edge, Rugged Gear, Saw Custom and SureFire will serve as co-stage sponsors. This brings the total number of sponsors to 15 with more expected to be announced before the mid-April match.

“We deeply appreciate the tremendous support the industry has shown the Area 6 Championship. Their generosity is why we think ours in the top regional shoot in the sport and a 'must attend' for so many

top competitors,” said Charles Bond, USPSA Area 6 director.

“Overall, the sport of Practical Shooting has seen solid growth despite the down economy. Our membership rolls have expanded by over 12% in the past two years bringing our total membership to over 18,000. I have no doubt that this could not have been achieved without the partnerships we've developed within the industry,” continued Bond.

The eight newly announced sponsors join, Glock, the match's main sponsor, Atlanta Arms & Ammo, Brazos Custom Gunworks, Montana Gold Bullet, Shooters Connection, Springfield Armory and Techwear USA to help put on the Area 6 Championship which will take place at the South River Gun Club in Covington, Ga., April 16 through 18.

Some 325 shooters from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, the states that make up the Area 6 region, and 20 other states are expected to attend as well as international shooters from Columbia and Jamaica.

More than 80,000 rounds will be put down range as competitors negotiate their way through 12 challenging stages, vying for top honors in six divisions: Production, Limited, Limited-10, Single Stack, Revolver and Open.
