Lactation Program Earns High Honors
TEMPLETON, CA (January 26, 2012) –Twin Cities Community Hospital recently received the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant® (IBCLC) Care Award and approval from the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners® (IBLCE®) and the International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA).
The award recognizes Twin Cities Community Hospital for hiring registered IBCLCs and for its dedicated lactation program, an initiative that protects, promotes and supports breastfeeding and provides breastfeeding training to the hospital’s staff.
“We are proud to earn the IBCLC Care Award distinction. It reflects the level of commitment and sensitivity of Twin Cities Community Hospital to the families of North County San Luis Obispo,” says Twin Cities Director of Business Development Jason Chang. “Our lactation program works to help new mothers
experience a smooth, safe, and stress-free transition into motherhood, and this award shows that our staff is equipped to provide the comfort and support that is so essential for moms.”
Twin Cities offers Lactation Consultations as an outpatient service for mothers and newborns who are experiencing difficulty breastfeeding. This is a private, one-on-one consultation with a skilled, experienced Lactation Consultant. The service is available to any new mother, regardless of where she delivered, and is designed to help address any nursing problems or concerns. A doctor's referral is necessary, and many health insurance plans cover this service.
IBLCE is the global authority that determines the competence of practitioners in lactation and breastfeeding care. ILCA is the professional association for IBCLCs and other health care professionals who care for breastfeeding families.
