2014-01-20 23:56:09 - New system to allow broadcasters to integrate and schedule advertisements directly into streams.
Atlanta, GA – 1/20/2014 - Tulix Systems, a leading provider of multi-screen over-the-top (OTT) streaming solutions and CDN services, today announced that it is developing a cloud-based advertisement insertion system that will allow broadcasters delivering content through Tulix to schedule the playback of recorded commercials or videos throughout a live broadcast. Due to the versatile nature of the technology it is employing, Tulix’s new system can be employed for a number of purposes, from inserting sequential advertising spots between segments of live content, to replacing live programming with pre-recorded video.
The advertising module is HLS-based and will work on all compatible devices, including applications Tulix develops for Roku, Android, Google TV, and iOS. Inserting advertisement requires no additional hardware or
software at the broadcaster’s location and all scheduling is done through the cloud-based system, where videos can be uploaded and managed.
Broadcasters can use the system to work directly with advertisers in delivering targeted content to their audiences using the advertising module. Users of the new system will have direct control of when ads play back, allowing them to provide unobtrusive commercials geared towards the demographic composition of the viewers watching the stream.
Tulix already offers customers the ability to monetize their content via its proprietary billing engine, which has subscription and pay-per-view capabilities across all devices. “Our development of this ad insertion system is the latest step in our continuing efforts to give our customers a broad array of choices when it comes to monetizing their streams. We really wanted to go beyond just the standard pre-rolls and develop the tools broadcasters need to have complete control of their content,” said Nino Doijashvili, Tulix’s EVP.
