the pioneering company.
modu mobile Korea will be a hub for the company's industrial design and mechanical engineering activities, drawing on the large pool of design talent and manufacturing skills on offer in the region.
modu is the world's first modular mobile phone supported by a variety of ecosystem partners. At the heart of the ecosystem is modu - a tiny, sleek and sophisticated mobile phone. modu can be slipped into a wide variety of modu jackets - stylishly designed phone enclosures and modu mates- modu-enabled consumer electronic products. modu's ecosystem offers boundless possibilities in a simple and affordable way.
The Korean team will be led by Mr. Youngha Lee, formerly CTO of Pantech & Curitel, a cellphone OEM which has sold millions of cell phones worldwide. Amongst his achievements during his period there, Mr. Lee oversaw the development of numerous handsets and managed about 1,000 people. Prior to this, he was at Samsung for 20 years most recently as VP Overseas Sales & Marketing.
modu mobile Korea's president is Mr. Choon Sik OH, the former COO of Hynix, one of the largest Korean corporations, and a key member of the team who took the company from almost a bankruptcy to a business that generated sales of $10 billion. During his time at Hynix, Mr. OH forged extensive strategic alliances and was responsible for strategic IP management, resulting in the company becoming the third largest player in its market in the world.
Both Mr. Lee and Mr. OH bring vast experience and expertise to the Korean office, and their years in the mobile industry are an enormous asset to modu.
The Korean team will be responsible for all aspects of product design for modu and modu jackets, including user interfaces, industrial and mechanical design, and engineering. The company is looking to hire the best talent in the market to join the 20 strong team members currently employed in the Korean office.
Mr. Lee said: "It is rare in the mobile phone industry to find a concept that is original, innovative and which represents a break with the status quo.
