2008-04-06 20:15:16 - One of the web's most valuable domain names is up for grabs

The Christmas Wish charity is closing it's doors and selling off it's web site.

The effort raised pounds and pounds for the school it supported and saw a group of British children make the top 10 in the USA with their charity song, "The Christmas Wish".

Now the charity is finalizing accounts and a spokesman said: "If we realize the website for

no less than £600, we will have raised several hundred pounds for the school and NOT have made a loss.

"Running the single up the charts in the USA proved much more expensive than we expected and it's true to say that the writers of the song ended up out of pocket. But they did it for the good of the school, both to raise funds and to give the children the once in a lifetime chance to make it into the music charts with their song.

John Lewis, who co wrote the song with his wife, Dawn said: "It was never about the money from our viewpoint, but about giving these children a chance to do something exceptional, and they did that.

"Selling the website will balance the books, if it makes the asking price. If it doesn't, that's tough on us, not the kids."

Lewis said plans are in hand to re-release the song, called "The Christmas Wish" in the run up to Christmas 2008 with the intention of raising even more funds for the school.

Lewis added: "We think we can take it to the top of the charts this year, but we all want to start from a level playing field, not playing catch up by balancing the books from last year's efforts."
