This Week’s TV: Delia Smith serves up a festive treat

2009-11-24 11:13:17 - It’s been 20 years since Delia Smith’s last Christmas special and she tells TV Choice that she hopes to inspire a new generation with her latest offering.

‘The most surprising thing for me is the fact that a lot of young people don’t cook at home. After watching this I hope they will have the confidence to do so,’ says Delia, who will run through traditional festive recipes and stress-free tips for the big day.

Also in this week’s issue, Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden chats about her new circus comedy Big Top, and Emilia Fox is among the actresses portraying Her Majesty in the docudrama The Queen. We preview Christmas treats on the box too, including Dr Who and Cranford, while Nicola Walker reveals why she is happy to be back as Ruth in Spooks.

Former Shameless star Anne-Marie Duff plays legendary ballerina Dame Margot Fonteyn in new BBC Four drama Margot, and Gloria Hunniford teams up with Jennie Bond and Angela Rippon to expose companies’ sharp practices in Rip Off Britain.

Flight Of The Conchords’ Rhys Darby is a rubbish hypnotist in Comedy Showcase, and artist Kit Williams tells the story of his legendary puzzle book Masquerade.

In the soaps, Rosie Webster accuses John Stape of assault in Coronation Street, and Ronnie reveals she is pregnant in EastEnders. Laurel realises Sally tried to kill her in Emmerdale, and in Hollyoaks Zoe’s murder trial starts. Karen clashes with Zara in Doctors. Libby gets a shock in Neighbours, and there is a gruesome discover in Home And Away.

There is also a VIP trip to London to see Grease the musical in this week’s competition.
