10 Things You are Not Supposed to Do When Trying to Get Pregnant!

2009-08-07 20:27:21 - Many couples can’t afford IVF. Little known but effective natural fertility treatments may offer a solution to this growing problem. Swiss naturopath and natural fertility specialist Iva Keene shares 10 suggestions for boosting fertility without IVF.

With infertility on the rise, fertility treatments are all the news these days. Expensive treatments have prompted the debate – should IVF treatments be subsidized with public funds? Some people say we should not allocate public money for fertility treatments as they believe there are more important medical conditions in need of funding. While the debate persists many couples continue to suffer in silence, wondering how they could afford a treatment to fulfill their dream of becoming a parent. The luckier ones can afford it and in some cases have parents who are more than willing to dip into their pockets for a grandchild.

Is there a better way? Should something like procreation - that is a God given right

– become a topic for a debate and be in the hands of the few who control the IVF industry?

Little known natural fertility treatments have been successfully used by thousands of couples and celebrities for years. So why are they not more widely recommended by doctors? And why are they not used as a first line of treatment, before opting for expensive IVF procedures?
The answer is quite simple. The natural fertility treatments don’t require drugs and procedures which can be patented and turned into money making machines.

Swiss naturopath and natural fertility specialist Iva Keene explains the underlying mechanism behind the natural fertility approach: “Natural fertility doesn’t isolate the reproductive system and treat it separately from the rest of the body. All body systems are interlinked and it is accepted that a suboptimal function of one system impacts the rest. The natural approach evaluates all body systems and person’s general health before specific recommendations are made.”

In her fertility program: “The Natural Fertility Prescription”, Iva outlines specific areas that need to be addressed before conception. “I recommend to all of my clients who want to conceive – regardless of whether they’ve been diagnosed with infertility or are trying for the first time – to follow a good preconception program. My program consists of seven areas including; detoxification, dietary and lifestyle modifications, supplementation, stress and sleep evaluation, and exercise. This approach addresses underlying nutritional deficiencies, food intolerances, allergies, subclinical metabolic conditions as well as reduces toxin overload and balances hormones. This takes a minimum of 4 months depending on ones starting point – how well or unwell they are at the start of the program. A person who’s been through a program like this is much healthier giving them a higher chance of becoming pregnant.”

What are some of the suggestions Iva recommends to her clients? She was happy to share the following 10 things you are not supposed to do when trying to get pregnant:

1. Smoke
2. Drink coffee
3. Drink alcohol
4. Drink unfiltered tap water
