How it is that Archbishop Robert Luckert of Coro, Venezuela does not know that the present Roman Catholic really began in 1054 by the Great Schism? VHeadline.com commentarist Kenneth T. Tellis writes:
The Great Schism of 1054 began when the Latin part of the Christian Church, thereafter called the Roman Catholic Church, under the Bishop of Rome, broke away from Constantinople on a matter of little importance. Thus the Roman Catholic Church can only claim to be 945 years old ... not 2000 as the archbishop
claims. Further to that, if Christ was 33 years of age at HIS crucifixion, it means that the church only began after the year 33 A.D.
The Christian Church in Rome really began with the arrival of Saints Peter and Paul, both Elders and equals neither having any power over the other. The Bishopric of Rome was formed thereafter and neither of them were Popes. The term Pope only dates to the Hun invasion of Rome under Attila in the 5th century, when the Bishop of Rome Leo I made an agreement, that he would pay Atgtila a ransom if they spared their city. Rome was spared on the payment demanded by the Huns. The people of Rome then began to call the Bishop of Rome Il Papa meaning Father ... and that translated into English became the term Pope.
If the Archbishop could be so wrong in his rendition of church history, I wonder if he knows much more about religion, because he seems to be more politician than priest. His slamming of Hugo Chavez Frias has also proved that his thinking is very mixed up!
Perhaps the archbishop should pay heed to the words of Y'shua (Jesus Christ), who said to those who tried to entrap him, "Give unto God what is God's and unto Caesar what is Caesar's!"
And in order to follow Y'shua (Jesus Christ) properly, Archbishop Roberto Luckert of Coro should remember Y'shua's words to the rich man: "Leave all and follow Me!"
The next move is up to Archbishop Roberto Luckert ... he has a choice to make, either he becomes a politician or he leaves all and follows Y'shua (Jesus Christ) ... as a priest!
