Starting Monday, July 21, 2008, Napanoch, New York resident Joe Bevilacqua, a veteran dramatist, actor and broadcaster, will begin conducting a weekly group acting workshop with emphasis on auditioning, cold reading, marking copy, character development, voice-over and dialects.

The group sessions, located in the mid-Hudson Valley of New York, will be relaxed and fun, according to Bevilacqua, and feature THE

DAWS BUTLER METHOD. Butler was the great animation voice actor (Yogi Bear, Huckleberry Hound, Cap'n Crunch,) and mentor to Bevilacqua. One-on-one sessions are also available by appointment. Scripts are provided.

Joe Bevilacqua has been performing since he was three years old and has acted in more than 60 stage plays, including Peter Shaffer's EQUUS (Dr. Martin Dysart), YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN (Linus), THE TRAGEDY OF HAMLET (Hamlet), A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM (Quince), and A THURBER CARNIVAL (Multiple Roles). Most recently, Bevilacqua wrote, produced, directed and starred in the successful Ellenville Playground fund raiser, a Sherlock Holmes dinner theater murder mystery, THE MYSTERY OF THE WHITE WOLVES OF NAPANOCH. Last October, he portrayed Professor Richard Pierson in The Shadowland Theatre's recreation of the 1938 Orson Welles WAR OF THE WORLDS radio broadcast.

"Joe Bev" is also a veteran award-winning writer, broadcaster, documentarian and cartoonist. He has created hundreds of radio plays for National Public Radio, XM Satellite Radio and others, and is a frequent contributing reporter for NPR's "All Things Considered" and "Weekend Edition." In addition, he has written a number of books, including DAWS BUTLER: CHARACTERS ACTOR, the authorized biography of the voice of Yogi Bear, who was Bevilacqua's personal mentor, and has edited SCENES FOR ACTORS AND VOICES, a workbook of monologues, dialogues, dialect and vocal exercises based on Daws Butler's west coast workshop, which Bevilacqua attending in the 1970s and 80s.

He has also written for a number of publications including THE ELLENVILLE JOURNAL, ORANGE MAGAZINE, and CANVAS. An exhibit of over 30 years of his cartoon drawings is currently on display, through October, in the window of Jar-Mar Liquors, 117 Canal Street in Ellenville, NY. Bevilacqua is working on a new book of cartoon scripts/fractured fables he co-wrote with Daws Butler, UNCLE DUNKLE AND DONNIE, which he is also illustrating, being published in early 2009.
