By 2030, there will be half a billion people living with diabetes, making it one of the most challenging health problems of the 21 st century : cts.businesswire.com/ct/CT?id=smartlink&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww .. . To demonstrate support and help raise awareness of this issue, the International Sweeteners Association has produced a video for World Diabetes Day.

Chairman of the ISA, Hugues Pitre comments: “With the number of people living with diabetes set to rise, we have developed this very real example of how families can make adjustments without feeling that they have to limit the sweetness in their diets. World Diabetes Day offers a unique opportunity to educate people on the realities of living with the condition.”

The video is centred on the real story of

a healthcare professional and her 10-year-old son, who has Type 1 diabetes. It runs through a typical day in their lives and looks at what food and drink options are available to help people with diabetes, including low carbohydrate fruits and vegetables, lean meats and fish, and products made with low calorie sweeteners, like light yoghurts and diet soft drinks.

The video is a compelling, yet factual portrayal of how people with diabetes can adapt everyday meals to make healthy food and drink choices. Importantly, it also highlights how low calorie sweeteners offer people with diabetes broader food choices by allowing them to enjoy sweet foods and drinks without raising blood glucose.

The video is now available on the ISA YouTube channel : cts.businesswire.com/ct/CT?id=smartlink&url=http%3A%2F%2Fgoo .. and on the ISA website : cts.businesswire.com/ct/CT?id=smartlink&url=http%3A%2F%2Fgoo .. , www.sweeteners.org : cts.businesswire.com/ct/CT?id=smartlink&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww ..

The ISA remains committed to spreading the message about the benefits of low calorie sweeteners for people with diabetes.
