2009-05-14 17:57:09 - The Insurance Institute of Coventry has ensured its future is in safe hands for another year with the election of a new president.

Chris Soborowski, associate director at chartered accountants and financial advisors Harrison Beale and Owen (HB&O), has been installed as the institute’s latest president.

Soborowski is an associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, an associate of the Personal Finance Society and a Chartered Financial Planner.

He has replaced last year’s incumbent Jane Evans, director of finance and insurance specialists Corrigans in Queens Road, Coventry, and follows in the footsteps of Tracey Hackett, a colleague at Leamington and Coventry based HB&O.

Hackett became the first financial adviser to be elected to the institute’s top job in 2005.

The institute, which has over 500 members in Coventry and the surrounding area, exists to promote the undertaking of professional qualifications and to create a social atmosphere within

the industry.

Soborowski, who works at HB&O’s Leamington office in Highdown Road, is charged with ensuring the insurance industry runs smoothly in the Coventry area.

He said: “I am very much looking forward to the challenges ahead.

“One of the main aims during my tenure will be to boost the number of members from the Personal Finance Society and to increase their involvement in the local institute and the invigilation of exams.

“The previous president did a wonderful job, and it is going to be hard to fill her shoes, but I will certainly try my best.”

Outgoing president Evans said she had mixed emotions about leaving the post.

“I am sad it is coming to an end, but it has been hard work,” she said.

“My advice to Chris is to make the most of his year and I hope he enjoys his time as president as much as I did.”
