TOM STOPPARD play THE COAST OF UTOPIA is leading the charge at next month's (Jun07) Tony Awards, after picking up seven prizes at the 52nd Drama Desk Awards last night (20May07).
Among the awards The Coast Of Utopia collected at the New York event were Best Play, Best Director for Jack O'Brien and Best Featured Actress for Martha Plimpton.
Elsewhere, Frank Langella was named Best Actor In A Play for his role in Frost/Nixon, while Eve Best took home Best Actress In A Play for A Moon For The Misbegotten.
Best Actor and Actress In A Musical went to Raul Esparza for Company and Donna Murphy for Love/Musik respectively.
Vanessa Redgrave won the Outstanding Solo Performance awards for her role as writer Joan Didion in The Year of Magical Thinking.
The Drama Desk Awards honour both on-Broadway and off-Broadway plays.
