2008-06-14 10:11:13 - A 60th Anniversary commemoration weekend will be held at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Peterborough UK from Thursday the 25th to Sunday the 29th June 2008.

Berlin, 14th, June 2008 The British Berlin Airlift Association remembers the start of the Berlin Airlift on June 1948.

The Berlin Airlift "made allies and friends of former enemies" and the contribution of the United, States, United Kingdom, Commonwealth, and France helping hands and human hearts changed the course of history for my country."
However, it

was also as effective as it was generous. The Berlin Airlift was a body blow to Soviet ambitions for Western Europe, one that was accomplished without firing a shot and that point remains applicable today.
The Association invited as honored guests the representatives of the Berlin Chapter

The First Battle of the Cold War - The Berlin Airlift

The opening of the exhibition took place on 24 May 2006 at the Atombunker, Lindenallee 1, 15345 Harnekop. The opening was attended by 15 British veterans, who took part in the Berlin Airlift. The veterans were in Berlin on a tour from the 23 May 2008 to the 28 May 2008 to visit related historic sites.

The new permanent exhibition is now present.
