Hot on the heels of HTC, Samsung and other mobile phone makers, Acer is set to launch its first Android touch screen smart phone in time for the holiday shopping spree. The Taiwanese brand which is known for its reasonable pricing and good quality gadgets had the new Acer Liquid drowned in an abundance of features that could give competitors a run for their money.
In its press releases of late, Acer promises a high quality phone that rivals the performance of other smart phones in its caliber.
Solid Functionality
The Liquid packs a solid punch when it comes to functionality. The 3.5 inch WVGA touch screen with a resolution that comes with two times more pixels than most smart phones is great for viewing movies, video
captures, still images and messages as they come out clearer, more vibrant and more realistic.
It also hosts a number of multimedia features that will surely entertain while you are mobile. It has 5 mega pixel camera that also doubles as a video recorder. So you are sure not to miss precious moments and sightings in your leisurely outings or important photo opportunities during an important business trip. An added bonus is the geo-tagging feature that comes with Android coupled with the built-in GPS with an internal antenna.
It comes with a rechargeable battery that can stand up to 400 hours of standby time or 300 minutes of talk time. It has an on-board memory of 256 MB that is upgradable via the microSD card slot provided.
Solid Entertainment
It comes with a Bluetooth headset making for a great companion to the multimedia players that are loaded in the phone. You can choose to use either the default android media player or the Acer-loaded nemoPlayer. It also features a multimedia app, the Spinslet, that allows you to stream worldwide music and videos right into your mobile phone and share them via email. It is also loaded with a variety of apps for games, music, videos and other practical and useful ones such the currency calculator. The Liquid is sure to bring your mobile entertainment to new levels.
Another highlight of the Liquid is the improved social networking integration system. It allows you to view status updates by contacts in the contact list right on your home screen. You do not have to log on to social networking sites for your minute-by-minute dose of social networking updates. Now, that’s real-time connectivity and hard core social networking support.
Acer pretty much preserved the Android User Interface (UI), which is a good thing, save for a few company – infused customization such as the media player, the Data Viz for Microsoft Exchange support, the social networking integration and video and music streaming service. The additions are pretty much useful too so it does not take up unnecessary storage space.
Solid Satisfaction
On the whole, the Acer Liquid is a phone to watch for once it is launched later in the year. Though not an eye candy like many other smart phones out there. It is lean and mean mobile machine designed to give you solid satisfaction in function, if not in form.
