GREENSBORO, N.C., September 29, 2008--Tencarva Machinery Company ranked 13th up from #27 in the recent 2008 'Fast 50' most dynamic companies selected by The Business Journal Serving the Greater Triad Area in Greensboro, N.C.
Rod Lee, Tencarva president, points out, 'Our outstanding growth is due to the remarkable group of people who are Tencarva and the wonderful customers with whom
we have been blessed. Of course, none of it would be possible without the group of top tier manufacturers who are our principals. It is fruitless to try to prioritize these since, as we all know, the most important leg of any three legged stool is the one that is missing!'
Ed Pearce, controller, states, "We are again honored to be included on this list. This is the fifth year in a row that we have been included on the list, which is a testament to the efforts of all of our employees. Hopefully, we can continue to keep growing even in these times of economic uncertainty."
The Business Journal honored winners at an awards program and cocktail reception on September 25, 2008, at The Empire Room in the Elm Street Center in Greensboro, and the listing was featured by the publication in the September 26, 2008, issue. Produced by The Business Journal, the 10th annual 'Fast 50' competition to determine the fastest-growing, privately held companies is sponsored by the law firm, Brooks Pierce McLendon Humphrey & Leonard; Frank L. Blum Construction; the accounting firm of Smith Leonard; and the bank, Wachovia Corp. Co-sponsor was AT&T.
Each entrant's revenue numbers are independently verified by Smith Leonard, which certifies the top companies as the 'Fast 50.' To make this 'Fast 50' determination, the firm factors in both dollar and percentage growth between 2005 and 2007 using a formula weighted toward sustained growth. This formula is also created to be fair to any size company.
This year's rankings on revenue growth were based on the following criteria for each company:
• Must be based in the Triad area
• Must be independent and privately held
• Must have revenues of at least 2 million dollars
• Must have completed at least three full fiscal years
Earlier this year, Tencarva Machinery Company was ranked 37th by the national publication, Industrial Distribution, in its 'Big 50' list of top U.S. headquartered distributors, based on sales and earnings. In addition, Tencarva was just ranked 59th in the 2008 'North Carolina 100' listing of the largest privately owned companies in the state published in the October 2008 issue of Business North Carolina.
