Telefonica Foundation Helps Top Hip Dysplasia Website Learn Spanish

The International Hip Dysplasia Institute (IHDI) is proud to announce the launch of : .. , a Spanish language version of the internationally recognized website,
The site will educate the Spanish speaking community about hip dysplasia, provide new mothers with skills to prevent hip dysplasia in newborn infants, and provide a vital support network for families dealing with hip dysplasia.

“Our website has been incredibly successful to date and serves as the leading source of hip dysplasia information for English speaking countries. Our hope now is that our Spanish website will enable the millions of people in the Spanish speaking world to better manage hip dysplasia in their lives,” stated Charles T. Price, MD, Director of IHDI.


dysplasia is the medical term for instability, or looseness, of the hip joint that affects thousands of children each year. This ranges from mild instability to complete dislocation. Approximately one out of every 20 full-term babies has some hip instability and 2 to 3 per 1000 will require treatment. Persistent hip instability is a silent childhood condition that frequently causes disability and arthritis into adulthood. will be managed by IHDI and operated by Pablo Castaneda, MD. Dr. Castaneda has been recognized by IHDI for his contributions in the field of hip dysplasia and will operate the site from Mexico City, Mexico.


The International Hip Dysplasia Institute (IHDI) is a not-for-profit effort to improve the health and quality of life of those afflicted with hip dysplasia. The International Hip Dysplasia Institute is supported by the Arnold Palmer Hospital Foundation in Orlando, Florida with additional funding from The Telefonica Foundation and American comedian and actor Dan Whitney (“Larry the Cable Guy”), and his wife, Cara. With this combined effort, we have joined forces with several noted medical centers around the world to promote prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of hip dysplasia.
