On Wednesday evening FreedomWorks will be rolling out the astroturf carpet at the Reagan Building to premiere "Tea Party: The Documentary Film." We will be hosting the film that chronicles the Tea Party movement that has swept the country this year.
Doors will open at 5:45pm, with a panel discussion starting at 6:15pm about the Tea Party movement’s impact on Capitol Hill. Panelists include FreedomWorks Chairman Dick Armey, Senator Jim DeMint, and Representatives Marsha Blackburn, Tom Price and Joe Wilson. Also in attendance will be the film's executive producer, Luke Livingston, and the five stars of the film.
The movie will begin at 7:00pm, with a reception to follow.
The Tea Party movement has grown into a powerful political force.
Grassroots organizations have
sprung up all over the country, organizing Tea Parties and town hall forums in every state to hold government officials accountable and fight back against deficits and government over-reach. Local organizers have been tireless, organizing marches and rallies to fight the health care takeover, cap and tax, and other massive government spending bills.
The producer of the film, Luke Livingston, commented, “The small government protest movement of 2009 shocked the political establishment and left the media dizzy in its wake. I made this film to show the truth behind this movement, how it happened and where it came from. This documentary tells the story of citizen activists who are driving the protests against big government. While many left wing pundits and biased members of the media say these people are not real, this film will show otherwise. These folks are real, and moved to action for a return to limited government, personal responsibility and fiscal restraint.”
FreedomWorks is proud to host the DC premiere. FreedomWorks Chairman Dick Armey noted, “Americans are stunned by what they see in Washington.
They know the burden of trillion dollar deficits, failed stimulus programs, and endless bailouts will be born on the backs of our children and grandchildren. This is not the legacy they want to leave future generations.”
