The School Sisters of St. Francis will present a Taize prayer service and free concert at 6 p.m. on February 1 at St. Joseph Chapel, 1501 S. Layton Blvd., Milwaukee.
The concert will feature tenor Michael Oriatti, accompanied by Sister Mary Jane Wagner.
The program is presented by the community’s music ministry as part of its series called “The Beatitudes: Living Christ’s Call in the Maze of Daily Life.” The program is offered on the first Wednesday of each month in the historic St. Joseph Chapel on Milwaukee’s south side.
Using the ecumenical prayer style of the brothers of Taize, France, there will be readings, songs, silent reflection, and prayers of intercession and adoration. The concert, which follows immediately, will extend the prayer,
leading the listener more deeply into the joy, the simplicity, the mercy and the hope of Christian life, according to Sister Mary Jane Wagner, music ministry director.
St. Joseph Chapel is located at 27th and Greenfield (1501 S. Layton Blvd.) in Milwaukee. Free parking is available in a lot accessible on 29th and Orchard (Alexia Circle entrance).
