2013-10-18 15:35:40 - A new coming actress is making her way to Hollywood
Many aspiring acting talents head to Hollywood in the hope of that elusive big break. Very few achieve it, and even fewer can say that they were signed by an exclusive agency before even circulating their first portfolio. For Swiss actress, Lara Pictet, this very swift and immediate introduction to the Hollywood scene has left people in high places saying that she will be the next big break in the world of leading ladies.
Geneva born Pictet first came to the screen aged only 14 in the critically acclaimed independent Swiss film, Orloj. Her young and innocent demeanour did not distract from a powerful performance that brought the film success at no less than 13 international film festivals. On the back
of this success, Pictet came to the UK to study at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and spent time working on the London theatre circuit. She landed her second role in a movie in Flirting and Dating for Dummies, the 2011 short from internationally acclaimed US director and producer, Lance Oppenheim.
Off screen, Pictet has showcased her acting versatility through roles from Ophelia in Shakespeare’s Hamlet to Gruschenka in Dostoyevsky’s The brothers Karamazov. She has thrilled audiences as Irina in Chekhov’s Antigone and dazzled on stage as Queen Dionyza in the theatre production of Periclies. As a stage artist Pictet has always shown a larger than life presence that is perfect for the big screen and it has come as no surprise that she now seems set for movie success. And indeed not only in the English speaking world. Fluent in both French and Spanish as well as English, Pictet was cast and starred in a Spanish adaptation of The Sea Inside, a role which brought her an award from the Spanish Embassy’s Culture and Media Office.
A beautiful and intelligent actress, Lara has wowed audiences with her gritty and emotional performances and attracted attention from the LA movie scene’s elite through her captivating on screen charm and maturity beyond her years. In a recent trip to Hollywood this summer, talent agency Luber Roklin Entertainment was so impressed with her work and success to date that Lena Roklin herself signed Pictet on their very first meeting.
There is no doubt that Lara Pictet is destined for great things and her recent and immediate success in LA is just a taste of things to come. Her enticing French beauty with hypnotically deep green eyes and seductive smile could have her heading for the catwalk and a very successful modelling career. Don’t be mistaken though to think that such striking beauty is the most she has to offer. It is not often that the independent film scene introduces the world to such a versatile and strong acting talent but Lara Pictet is certainly that. It may indeed be soon before the comparison of her as the next Natalie Portman could no longer do justice to the 19 year old Swiss sensation.
