Internet Child Protection is one of the major concern of parents of this age. In some countries parents are not allowing the children to operate computers on their own, unless either of the parents or any one else is monitoring the child's activities on the computer. This a major threat to the society at present. Today the internet is a rich source of knowledge and ideas from almost every country on earth. It contains information on topics from religion and science to history and mathematics. As most people know the internet can be an amazing resource and provide hours of fun for kids, but there is a side to the internet that can be worrying
for any parent. Mr.Susmit Basu, the Technical Head of Supportonclick said that their customers have been requesting for child protection facility for quite some time and thus it was their duty to cater to the needs of the customers. 'How safe is my child online ?' - This was the question raised by many parents said Mr.Basu.
He stated that 'Chat rooms have been a main cause of concern for years, with adults posing as young children and chatting to unsuspecting kids Another major worry for a parent is spam email containing explicit images. Websites with explicit images are also another problem that children may be exposed to-' He continued ' -It often happens that due to a spelling mistake in the search criteria, an adult webpage opens up instead of the required website by the child. To prevent children from getting into such websites, emails and chat rooms has become a major concern for many parents through out the world.'
For the past few months the team of Supportonclick has been working on this Child Protection project and after being satisfied with the final test results and experimentations they have decided to launch it soon. In the mean while the website would be upgraded.
The C.E.O.of Supportonclick, Mr.Sujoy Roy said 'Tentatively we will be launching the 'Internet Child Protection' service some time middle of October 2008 to protect your children from this type of exposure on the internet.'
