Graeme King, Northern Logistics Coordination Lead from Material Logistics Group is one of the advisors at the 2nd Annual Oil and Gas Logistics Summit to be held on 26 - 27 March 2013, at The Park Rotana, Abu Dhabi. During a pre- summit interview, King was asked about the implications of multi-use or multi-contractor supply from an operational perspective, he quoted, " For the Warehouse Network Management Strategies I can offer the below points of discussion, Multi use or multi contractor supply- most LNG works out source a lot of their work to a number of companies with each of them arranging only enough equipment to cover the task with no plan for contingencies or request for additional tasking. The
issue here is if the contractor requires tools, parts or other from the main warehouse where they have no entitlement. Does the main warehouse issue the item and more importantly how is this captured commercially/financially as it can be very costly?"
He also expressed his views on warehouse networks for upstream sector. He stated, “Upstream Works- numerous warehouse and lay down yards may need to be established along the supply route depending on the distance to be covered as well as the sequence of construction and priority levels of equipment. In addition to this is the consumption planning rates and impacts on resupply inclusive of delays both planned as well as foreseeable.”
